Case Study

Challenge
Transform a nondescript kitchen to fit the new owners’ aesthetics and lifestyle. Build in additional storage and durability that would stand up to vigorous dog traffic and everyday wear.

Solution
Create new storage by swapping the existing peninsula for a countertop island that accommodates seating, drawers, and the microwave. Repurpose cabinet space to hold pots-and-pans drawers for quick, easy access without bending over.

Upgrade the ergonomics for busy cooks with a pull-out wall spice cabinet to the right of the range. Flank the existing window with glass-door cabinets to amplify the daylight and bring dimension to the space.

Results
The redesigned kitchen reflects the home’s water view with dry-brushed grays and subdued blue tones, while sturdy, luxury vinyl flooring adds a rustic element. Light now fills this once-dim space, inviting culinary adventures and personal interaction.

With plenty of room for all the kitchen essentials and an abundance of coastal charm, it’s a room that feels at right home in its element.
