Challenge Remodel this charming beach cabin to expand the space and upgrade its functionality.
Solution Integrate the new kitchen/bathroom/laundry space by incorporating vintage elements from the old footprint. Follow through with a nautical theme that ties this multipurpose area together even as it ties in with the cabin’s new décor.
Results While retaining the cozy ambience of a beach cabin, this remodel eliminated the inconveniences of the old, cramped design by allowing fluid movement from space to space. The original drain-board sink, gas range, and door on the reach-in pantry give the new kitchen a familiar feel.
We painted the bathroom-cum-laundry area in blue and white, installing the same cream cabinets and countertop tile as the kitchen. For subtle variety, we used a slightly different backsplash and glass pattern here alongside classic plumbing fixtures.
The overall effect? A comfortable, unified living space.
