Case Study
Challenge
The original ensuite was dated and poorly laid out with clashing pink, white and brown tones; an off-center sink and light forcing balance issues; and a cramped shower with a narrow 20-inch entry that made the space feel dark and restrictive. With a skylight and existing footprint constraints, expanding the room wasn’t an option.
Solution
We transformed the space by converting it into a single wet room: removing the wall partition, widening the shower, and installing a curbless, open shower design for a seamless floor flow. Walls were retiled with crisp white subway tile; the floor became a classic black‑and‑white penny‑round “carpet.” A wrought‑iron sink stand replaced the bulky vanity, centered with a balanced mirror and light. A single glass panel now divides the shower from the rest of the bath. For a touch of elegance and visual interest, artisanal black‑and‑white tile from Stone Impressions was used in the shampoo niches and around the window wall, adding Parisian flair without overwhelming the clean palette.
Result
The bathroom now feels spacious, bright, and balanced a chic, functional retreat. Despite no change in footprint, the wet room layout, open shower, and continuous floor flow make the room seem much larger. The black‑and‑white palette delivers timeless sophistication, and the artistic tile accents lend the space personality and charm.
